Games Workshop – The Games Workshop Design Studio Podcast
Design Philosophy I: 40K Rulebook Rules Section

Looks like the first in what could be a serious of official Podcasts by Games Workshop (the USA branch and not including the canada games workshop podcasts) has been released a couple days ago. It is a nice running length of 45 or so minutes and they suggest having a copy of the rules to go along with the podcast as they do go over particular rules and the design philosophy.

I did like that we’ve got some official commentary from GW which really feels more enlightening than reading a FAQ. They go into the line of sight rule and how your own squad does not block line of sight because they are “trained to get out of the way”. And that you can shoot through gaps in trees and such allowing more shooting in an average game (and thus quicker games).

Beyond my own inability to comprehend fast speaking English folk (sorry Jervis, I had to rewind a few times). The audio was rather low, as were the voices pretty deep, and you could hear the compression. There should be some work to improve the quality and intonation.

This is a great step in my opinion. They’ve got a step to go in order to equal the quality of podcasts from the likes of the Miniatures Wargaming Union, but this is truly exciting.
